| The SACK Board has been kicking around the idea of hosting a LCCI Regional Invitational in 2009. We are thinking that the event would be planned around Pride Weekend, specifically the Pride Parade. We need input from you, the membership. Do you have ideas for events that LCCI members might be interested in? Do you want to help by being on one of the committees? Do you think we are nuts and should not do a Regional Invitational? We are at the ground floor with planning and organizing this possible event and want input from the membership. As some of you know; planning, organizing and hosting a LCCI Invitational is not a small tasking. We as a board have come up with several ideas for things to occupy our guests during the three day event. - Having Lannie Garrett, famous with LCCI members from Western Iron in 2001 perform at our awards ceremony.
- Touring the Forney Transportation Museum.
- Touring the Clive Cussler Collection.
- Participating in the Pride Festival Parade (which would be the main event for the Invitational).
- Touring Coors.
- Shopping Tour.
- City of Denver Tour (The Mint, Museum, Botanic Gardens).
To begin the organizing of such an event the board has come up with subcommittees that need to be staffed by a board member and members from the general membership. The following are the committees that we have come up with and what they would be responsible for: - Registration/Welcome Committee - Lead by Paul B. from the board. This committee would be busiest prior to the event and the first day of the event. Collecting registrations via mail, building Welcome packets with information about our event and assisting with the "ice breaker" evening.
- Hospitality - Responsible for lodging arrangements for incoming LCCI members by locating a hotel and blocking rooms for our members. Also responsible for catering of the Awards banquet or other events that would need food available.
- Entertainment - Lead by Joe T from the board. This committee would be responsible for contacting venues for our members to visit, and arranging for entertainment at the awards banquet.
- Judging Committee - This committee would be responsible for judging the vehicles brought from LCCI members and placed in the Pride Parade or car shows. No SACK members will be eligible to 'win' an award, their cars can be placed in the car show and parade as a non-judged participant.
- Programs/Awards - Lead by Joel K. The committee would be responsible for designing and producing the Event Programs, and Awards that will be handed out to winners named by the Judging Committee.
All costs for the events will be passed on to the attendees through registration fees, however, SACK will need to come up with funding for hotel contracting, catering, entertainment and other items. The board has come up with the idea of doing several things to raise the funds: - A car club garage sale - Do you have things around the house you need to get rid of and can donate? We will have a drop off point for all items and then hold a garage sale with all proceeds going to the SACK treasury.
- Beer Busts Fundraisers - Two this year, one next year prior to the event. This would suspend our traditional donations to charity from the Beer Busts, but only for this short time.
